Online Chatroom Flash-Writing Workshops (FREE!)
Every Wednesday, 9:00- 10:30 PM EST
Chatroom (click here)
Free!
–To talk about your writing, other people’s writing, or writing in general (with an emphasis on the short kind of writing)
- Bring a piece of flash fiction/non-fiction or a short poem (<150 words)
- Be prepared to share this piece with the chatroom
- Be prepared to comment on other peoples’ work with charity, clarity, positivity, and enthusiasm
- Bring questions about writing, the writing process, publication, or whatever else you can think of . . .
We can’t tell you who exactly will show up on a given night, but we will be careful to not let discussions get out of hand (i.e. unhelpfully negative). We can also tell you that we, Dorian Geisler and Amanda Vacharat, the editors of HOOT, will definitely be there, ready to hang out and give you feedback on your writing.

Really Pretty Super-Intense, Albeit Actually Very Helpful . . .Workshops
Maybe coming soon, maybe not.
Who knows?

Dear Folks,
Love the postcards, love the website and the energy.
Two questions:
I’d like to submit and I’m unsure when to do so — any time in the month? At the beginning of the month?
I’m really interested in the online workshops — but pardon — I use adaptive equipment and I’m unsure how a chatroom works. It’s immediate? I can read other people’s submissions and see your comments? Please edify.
Thanks for your work. I’m spreading the word. Warm wishes, C
Hi, Capri–
1. Yes, submit any time during the month. Our submissions are rolling…we read them and accept them as needed.
2. Yes! A chatroom is immediate. You’d need internet access (which I’m assuming you have, based on this comment) and an email address– you can type to other people in the chatroom real-time, and we email out the work that we’re reading. Let us know if that’s not clear…we can try to accommodate you no matter what…
Hope to either read your submissions or see you in our workshop soon!
