GIVING AN EYETOOTH
by Meagan Wilson

After seeing it done in cartoons I
tied my tooth to the door
and slammed it.

Bleeding onto the carpet not crying
as I should’ve but
watching my #11 bicuspid
swing & click against the wood and
the dog eye it with his ears pricked
I learned something new.

MATING SEASON
by Meghan Slater

Shopkeepers pulled down their storefront gates and slammed the locks down hard. A
young mother swooped up her tot like a crane and flew inside the apartment complex. It was
coming and everyone could sense it, as the temperature seemed to grow higher and higher. Mr.
and Mrs. McFerney, already with a family of twelve, put up an iron door between them. Soon the
streets would be flooded with men and women attracted to one another like magnets.

If you didn’t want a baby, you shouldn’t be outside anyway.

ACCOLADES
by Christopher Grosso

O ambition,
you tire
like a kitten
swimming
in milk.

Meagan Wilson is from Colorado. She currently lives in Montana with her dog, Wyatt.

Meghan Slater is a young lass who just moved to Philadelphia, where she has yet to eat a cheesesteak, “pull a Rocky,” or lengthen the crack in the Liberty Bell. Her friends call her “Heart.”
